ODS Goes West: Saskatoon

Before getting to Saskatoon we didn’t really know what we were going to do for 2 days, and admittedly by the Saskatoonians, there isn’t a whole lot to do. Despite the lack of activities Saksatoon is a beautiful city, the South Saskatchewan River runs right down the middle of the city and parks and walking paths run the entire length of the city on both sides.

ODS Goes West: Winnipeg Day 1

People had always told me that Winnipeg was cold, I always believed them, but I don’t think I really understood. After a 34 hour train ride, most of which was rocks and trees and trees and rocks, we found ourselves standing on the Winnipeg platform in -6*C weather… this is Spring in Manitoba?

The Uniform

The first post I did a couple weeks back was about how to start your closet. I’m just gonna expand on this a bit more, and explain the effectiveness of “the uniform”.

I never posted this for some reason.

Contrasting cutaway club collar. Now that’s alliteration.

No shirt has ever fit me so well, the only thing that has ever come close is Epaulet, but those cost 3 times as much and are still too short in the body. So glad Frank & Oak exists.

KJP Triton Collection

Tryin’ out some wristwraf. Dig it so far.

So awhile ago I picked up what was advertised on Jack Threads as McNairy x Weejuns, in standard Jack Threads form they were not what they appeared to be.

I didn’t look too closely at them when I got them, I just made sure they fit and threw them in the closet with all my other shoes. Recently I took a look at them and noticed they say McNairy nowhere on the shoe. It did however say 75th anniversary, so I did some research and found out they’re from last year and they’re hand sewn with full grain leather in El Salvador, even the sole is full grain leather. So, I’m not even terribly mad they’re not McNairy cause I believe all the other models seemed to be the same construction.

This is what I’ve been doing all weekend, and what I plan to do for the next 2 weeks. I’m refinishing and upholstering vintage furnish. When I get good at it I might be willing to sell some.

Summer Outfits Round-Up

Here is a round-up of the last 4 days incase you missed the whole Summer Outfit thing we were doing. Go back through the archives and check them all out.

Summer Outfits Day 4

The final of the outfits so I’d thought I’d go with the ultimate in summer casual. Coloured chinos, a printed oxford, and sneakers. I don’t think this needs much explaining, just take your favourite and most comfortable items and mash ‘em into a single outfit. I’ll probably wear this most days.

Summer Outfits Day 3

Washed denim and gingham is fairly standard and fairly casual. Washed denim is better for the summer cause it’s generally a bit lighter, in tone and actual weight. Pairing denim with a gingham shirt is just a smart move and the dual-colour gingham just rocks the socks out of it. I added some penny loafers to take it just an extra step up in terms of casuality (just made up a word, I’m like Shakespeare), the only thing missing is some pennies in the loafers.
