Paul Simon - Graceland

She comes back to tell me she’s gone
As if I didn’t know that
As if I didn’t know my own bed
As if I’d never noticed
The way she brushed her hair from her forehead

First Rate People - You Won’t Get This Joke At All

Yo, check out my friends’ new track. I used to do a lot of work with these guys back when I actually wrote and produced music.  This new track is dope tho, they just keep getting better with every single.

Bing Crosby - White Christmas

My sister works today, my parents were gonna go see her, but my dad got sick during the night. My brother’s real dad went into the hospital, and I’m sitting here alone, 3000km away from all of them looking outside at a very green and rainy Christmas Day. It’s all good tho, because I have a family that I love and loves me; not every Christmas goes well.

Merry Christmas to everyone and I hope you’re all having a wonderful time with your families!

Frank Sinatra - They Can’t Take That Away From Me

This song is phenomenal. I grew up as a kid watching MGM musicals, my particular favourite stars were always Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire, because those were my parents and g’rents favourites. As I’ve grown up I’ve really come to enjoy the crooners even more, Bing Crosby and Frank really add that class that’s missing in music these days. They were able to be artists without growing their hair long and wearing ugly clothes.

Growing up, this was always one of my favourite songs. Ira and George Gershwin are some of the best song writers of all time. While a lot of songs of that era were cliché and cheeky, the Gershwins were able to write something a bit more substantial without losing that happpy-go-lucky feel of the mid-century. Something about this arrangement just gives it that bit extra that it’s missing. I can’t get enough of this track.
