Price is an artificial concept. It represents what the value of one good is to a party interested in that good. There's no scale where $100 means value 1 and $1000 means value 10. The value to both of you is 0 if your budget is $200 and the price is $750. All knock off guy has done is tapped a different section of the market with a similar product. If the $750 dollar chair is so great, they'll continue to succeed despite not catering to people who can't afford their product.

Yeah the reason they can get away with such high prices is the fact that it’s “authentic” and people buy into that. At the same time it’s a lot like the clothing industry where you get what you pay for. I’m sure raw denim makers would love to sell their jeans for less than they do, but they wouldn’t be able to turn profit. I’m just not convinced that that chair couldn’t be sold at $425 instead of $725 and still be a 50% mark-up.

Don’t get me wrong I love the chair and understand the quality and everything, but I still would rather wear Rogue Territory instead of Momotaro.
